A lot of people are nude around their own house but don’t consider themselves to be “nudists”.  Typically it is because they misunderstand what the term means.
Some people believe what the porn and conservative religious groups define nudism  as — lust-filled, hedonistic voyeurs and exhibitionists that engage in orgies and all kinds of public sex.  That’s just a flat out lie so the porn industry can make money and religious groups can maintain control.
Nudists are simply more comfortable nude. They don’t see the nude human body as inherently sexual or lewd. Sometimes they are comfortable nude around others (social nudists), but sometimes they prefer to be nude alone or with their family at home (home nudists).
What are you? Are you comfortable being nude around your own home? Then you are a home nudist. Are you comfortable nude around others? Then you are a social nudist!
If you are a home nudist but haven’t given social nudism a try, you should. There are many people like you out here who are looking for wholesome, family-friendly nude recreation with others like yourself!
If you have questions, please let us know!  We’d be happy to answer them!

“Nudism Happens”
We might as well try something different for awhile!  After all, clothing and uniforms have been working SO well for us, have they not.  The Heartland Naturists have been involved with educating people and promoting the acceptance of the human body since 1982 according to their tumblr postings.  This was about the time that I first learned of Naturism in America and began understanding what it represented and how people COULD think a little differently and COULD act with total composure and responsibility while nude.
As a young teenager with very little experience in being NUDE at all, I had no opinion on this subject whatsoever.  Many readers can imagine how the idea of “nudity” simply makes a young person smile and blush.  Yes, both men and women get embarrassed when thinking of nudity because was we were largely programmed by movies and cable channels to think nakedness ONLY happened when sex was involved. We were young, our bodies were changing and the incredible intensity of new feelings that we were just experiencing for the first time was SO powerful and only served to reinforce these visual, entertainment experiences and hormone driven imaginings.
Now as adults I would like to think we understand more, know what the purpose of nudity is or perhaps “can be”, and can make choices in how we use it and how we conduct ourselves.  This is how we can expand humanity’s understanding of nakedness, of vulnerability and of togetherness.  It actually amazes me that I can write these words now, some twenty-nine years later, and feel confident in the belief I have associated with nudity as it can happen each day.
I hope there are some readers that agree with this and can write comments of their own thoughts.  Naturism is organized and has many believers, but maybe we do not coordinate with each other as well as we could or do not speak up often enough.  Sharing an understanding of social nudity as it can exist in these modern times is totally important, no critical to the future of it as a philosophy for living.
Naturism is more gentle than many religions.  Learning to love your body and master the diversity of its feelings is something you have already been doing, whether you have taken the time to think about it or not.  So what step comes next in this mastery?  What task or acts do you attempt next to push the envelope or build EVEN MORE confidence, a stronger sense of self-assured presence and to enjoy life more?
The world is a fantastic place and WE exist in it.  Nature surrounds us and yet we do not control it.  Is the next step to further assert ourselves, to make a larger, more recognizable presence for humanity as peaceful stewards of the Earth, and to get people to recognize us as the mostly pale, soft beings who have shaped it up to this point?
